Home “Staging” - Presenting Your Home
Mortgage News Daily has a great post about getting your home presentable and ready to sell - a practice often referred to as “staging.”
I like the last line:
If your house has a lot of competition in the market you need to measure up. Think of it as show biz.
Marketing and presentation; it really is show biz. A little strategic effort goes a LONG way.

Staging your house before putting it on the market to sell increases your chances of selling it in 30 days. It’s hard for the buyer to imagine how it could look. Many times buyers move in and put their furniture in the same place the seller had it. That’s why proper furniture placement is so important. If it looks good with your furniture, the buyer knows it will look good with their’s.
Reducing the clutter and taking all your personal items away enables the buyer to imagine themselves living there with their belongings, rather than being distracted by all of your belongings.
Once you put your house on the market, it is no longer your home, but a product. The product needs to be marketed in the proper way to sell fast. If it sells fast, your investment has paid off.
