Real Estate Consumer Bill of Rights
The Real Estate Cafe has started a 10-day series of posts proposing a “Real Estate consumer’s Bill of Rights.”
If it is credible enough, they’ll submit it as written testimony to the upcoming (October 25, 2005) Competition Policy and the Real Estate Industry workshop being put on by the FTC.
So far the justification for such a bill has been thoroughly presented by the Cafe, so I’ll be watching with great interest (and possibly participating in discussion) as this develops over the next few days.

Robert,
We look forward to your thoughtful input. Have you or any of your peers in the For Sale by Owner community done any brainstorming about what a Consumer Bill of Rights might look like for sellers?
My perspective, and that shared by Erle Rawlins, the author of the 10 points our blog will begin posting, approached the subject primarily from the buyer’s perspective. The perspective needs to be informed by current e-commerce expectations and new possibilities coming with what some are calling “Web 2.0″ (HousingMaps.com, etc.)

The real estate consumer bill of rights seems like a great informative policy. It was of great help as I am seeking to purchase an apartment complex.
